More than 500 employees of ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, in Malaysia are now facing an uncertain future after being laid off. The news came through an email, as the company shifts towards greater reliance on artificial intelligence (AI) technology, according to a report by Berita Harian.
The move has left many grappling with job insecurity. However, amid the wave of layoffs, a beacon of hope has emerged. Local radio station Kool 101 has stepped forward to provide support and job opportunities for the displaced workers.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Kool 101s Content Director, Rara, acknowledged the challenges faced by those affected and expressed the stations commitment to helping them. The station is offering various roles to the former ByteDance employees, including positions such as: Radio Presenter, News Presenter, Social Media Content Producer, Content Producer, Marketing and many more.
We hear your distress when you are suddenly laid off. As a creative media brand, we want to offer you jobs because we want you, said Kool 101 in their statement.
