Makeup is a whole different ballgame, one which requires time, patience and relative skill, but, if you're going to put a tonne of effort into your face, you've kinda got to give the same amount of attention to your nails, too.

We have great DIY options to try at home, and some you may need to head to the nail salon for (unless you happen to be blessed in the artistic skills department). 1. Frankin-babe stitch nails
Perfect for DIY attempts these stitch nails could be done with two base colours to make them even simpler, and you can play around with colour combos. Don't worry too much if your stitches are messy, it all adds to the design!
But if you're looking for a more advanced stitch nail idea, this 3D set of stitched skin nails is gruesome yet... understated?
3. Dark blood reverse French tips
Thick, maroon blood is offset by gold foil on the ring finger on these cool, coffin nails.
4. Minimal ghosts
If extravagant nails aren't really your thing, ask for something simple but cute, like these little ghosts.
5. Dip dye with cobweb detail

So simple, so effective. Ask for long, pointy nails on your first and fourth finger to recreate fangs. The red tips makes them all the more realistic. If you've got long nails you're willing to chop you could create at home, or achieve similar by buying white stiletto press ons for the four fangs. You could try clipping them square for the others, or squaring off your own nails.

Get your manicurist to try these gory nails, if they dare. Very cool, but incredibly complex, you'll have to visit a salon that really knows their stuff.
