Based on reports, the Korean Film Council announced on Apr 2nd that the film reached a total of 11,003,304 moviegoers, just 40 days after its release.
Exhuma which hit cinemas 22 Feb, reached the 10 mil mark in 32 days. It was not only the first film in 2024 to reach that milestone, but also the first Korean occult horror film to ever reach that benchmark.
The movie was competition-free from newer films like Troll Factory and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
Exhuma tells the story of a team of paranormal investigators or shamans, tasked with excavating an ominous grave, in order to save a family experiencing a series of paranormal events. But, little do they know about family history, hidden truths, and dark secrets beneath the sacred grounds.
