MAS is not the first airline to make this decision however. Air India, Australian airline Qantas, as well as German airline Lufthansa have already began temporarily changing the flight routes of their airlines due to escalating fears that Iran would attack Israel.

US President Joe Biden has been reported by the German Press Agency (dpa) saying that he expects Iran to begin launching their attacks on Israel "sooner than later". However, he refused to elaborate on what classified intelligence about Tehran's plans that Washington had accumulated.

Following the deaths of several military generals after a massive airstrike on the Embassy of Iran in Syria on the 1st of April, the threats from Iran to Israel have increased extensively.

There have also been reports that as tensions increase within the region, the Irans Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) seized a container ship that is in relation to Israel in the Gulf.
