Peruvian police took an unusual approach to a drug raid ahead of Valentine's Day, with one officer dressed as a giant capybara. The operation, which took place on February 13 in Lurín, south of Lima, resulted in the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker.
In a video shared by authorities, the oversized capybara complete with a turtle backpack and heart decorations was seen entering a home alongside officers before detaining the suspect. The disguise, according to Colonel Pedro Rojas of the Green Squad, helped as "camouflage."
During the raid, police seized 1,700 packages of cocaine and marijuana. The Green Squad, a specialized unit of the Peruvian National Police, is known for its creative tactics, often using costumes during holiday operations. In the past, officers have disguised themselves as superheroes and even horror movie characters.
This Valentine's Day-themed capybara operation is just another example of their unconventional but effective crime-fighting methods.
