Durian planters in Bedong, Kedah have just introduced two new variations of Durians, labelled J. Sparrow (D216) and Jerai (D217).
What do they taste like?
This is what each of the new variations of durian tastes like, according to the Chairman of the Agriculture and Food Industry Committee Datuk Azman Nasrudin, the person officiating the new clones.
J. Sparrow:
"It has light yellow-brownish flesh and has a moderate aroma while the average sweetness is 35.3% Brix (sugar content rating) and moderate bitterness."
Jerai:
"The main color of the flesh is light yellow and it has a strong aroma, the average sweetness is 35% Brix with moderate bitterness, and has a medium rough texture and a strong creamy taste."
J. Sparrow durian is priced between RM35 to RM45 per kilogram whereas Jerai durian is priced at RM20 to RM35 per kilogram.
