Drivers entering the highway from the Taiping Selatan, Trong, and Beruas toll plazas in either direction are eligible for toll-free journeys. The 35.5 km long Section 11 of the WCE cuts the 55-minute trip time from Changkat Jering to Beruas down to just 20 minutes using the new route.
The newest alternate route that links Hutan Melintang, Teluk Intan, Seri Manjung, Beruas, and Taiping in Perak with Banting, Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, and Tanjung Karang in Selangor is called the WCE. The toll charge will be 16 sen per kilometer once the toll-free period ends.
According to Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, WCE is anticipated to grow in popularity as a detour for drivers traveling north from the Klang Valley and West Coast states.
Additionally, it is intended that the WCE will reduce traffic, particularly during rush hours, holidays, and celebrations. WCE is on a flatter, less hilly area, thus drivers might save fuel, he claims in a Facebook post.
