Sharul Channa was scheduled to perform at the PJ Live Arts tonight for fans in Malaysia.
This was meant to be a yearly stop on her Just Joking! global tour.
The program has been canceled, according to Laugh Labs Entertainment, in an abrupt and unexpected development.
Sharul verified the situation by posting on social media.
"They took away the license, or rather, they took away the license for me to perform," she stated, explaining why the event was canceled.
Sharul disclosed that several police reports had been filed on a previous stand-up comedy she had performed years prior.
Her permission to perform here tonight was abruptly withdrawn due to a video that appeared to be making the rounds on the Internet.
Sharul said that when they initially applied, she had already given her word that her performance tonight would not discuss race, religion, or royalty.
In the meanwhile, the Ministry of Communication has revoked Sharul's work visa, according to a statement from Phoon Chi Ho, CEO of Laugh Labs Entertainment, in response to many police reports on one of her videos from 2018 that addressed a 3R problem (Religion, Royalty, Race).
According to Phoon, this was completely unanticipated because they had filed for and been granted the required licenses and permissions just one week before the start of ticket sales. Phoon expressed apologies for any inconvenience.
