The National Service Training Programme (NS 3.0) is set to kick off in phases beginning January next year, offering a revamped experience for young Malaysians, aged 16 to 35, to develop essential skills and values. Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari shared details of the initiative, noting the governments plan to initiate the program on a smaller scale, gradually expanding its reach to more participants by June 2025.

According to NST, Adly confirmed that the government has allocated RM50 million to launch NS 3.0, starting with an initial group of around 500 participants who will be stationed at two selected camps. This initial phase will act as a pilot for the program, allowing organizers to fine-tune logistics and course offerings before opening up to more participants in the summer intake. By June, Adly said, the program will accommodate a larger group of participants, providing valuable insights for future stages.

To facilitate NS 3.0, 13 army camps across Malaysia, including locations in Kuala Lumpur and Pahang, have been earmarked to host participants. Currently, only two camps will be operational for the January intake, but ongoing refurbishments aim to bring all 13 camps up to standard. Adly noted that these improvements will ensure the camps are fully functional by 2026, enabling them to support the programs full rollout.

The NS 3.0 program seeks to enhance participants skills through structured modules, designed to foster a sense of unity and resilience. "This initiative is not only an investment in skills but also a commitment to fostering national unity and preparing young Malaysians for the future," Adly commented, underscoring the programmes broader objectives.

In addition to NS 3.0, the Defence Ministry continues to support local communities through the Jiwa Murni Project, which recently saw the repair of 10 houses in Melaka. This effort, overseen by the Malaysian Army, is backed by a RM138,500 budget for house repairs within the Alor Gajah constituency. Through this initiative, Adly, who also serves as Alor Gajah's Member of Parliament, highlighted the Ministry's commitment to providing safe, habitable housing for citizens in need.

The launch of NS 3.0 and the Jiwa Murni Project reflect the Defence Ministry's ongoing dedication to national development and community welfare. With a structured rollout and committed resources, NS 3.0 is positioned to become an impactful platform for empowering young Malaysians while strengthening national bonds.
