Heavy rain led to a harrowing incident for a 49-year-old e-hailing driver, after her car plunged into The Mines lake yesterday evening.
A video shared by witness @kakdiamond78 on her TikTok account showed the aftermath of the disaster, whereby the driver was seen clinging onto life as a rescue boat rushed to safety.
Just as the Toyota Vios begun to descend towards the lakebed, she managed to climb out of the window and escape unscathed.
According to a statement made by District police chief Assistant Commissioner AA Anbalagan, her eyesight was hindered by the heavy rain which made her unable to see the road clearly.
