Our lips are prone to become dry and flaky because of the hot weather in Malaysia. Hence, lip care is essential to ensure our lips are moisturised and prevent chapped lips.
There are three possible causes of chapped lips.
1. Vitamin deficiency
Low levels of the vitamin could lead to dryness of the lip and cause chapped lips. So, the daily intake of fruits and vegetables rich in the vitamin is important.
2. Habitual lip licking
Some people use to lick their lips as they thought this could help with chapped lips. This habit promotes evaporation and further strips the moisture from the lips, causing more dryness. Lips wrinkle will form over time as a result of habitual lip licking.
3. Hot weather
Exposure to the sun in hot weather will result in the dryness and flakes of the lips. Frequent use of lip balm could reverse the moisture of the lips.
Here are some suggestions for lip care to return it smooth and soft.
1. Mix brown sugar and honey as a lip scrub
Mix the brown sugar and honey well with a ratio of 1:1. The mixture could serve as a natural lip scrub and be applied onto the lips.
2. Remove the dead skin on lips using a green tea bag
Immerse the green tea bag in hot water. After the green tea bag becomes warm, apply it on the lips for 5 to 10 minutes. Then, rub off the dead skin gently.
3. Remove the dead skin on lips using pure milk
Apply warmed pure milk on the lips using a cotton pad for 15 to 20 minutes. Then, use a cotton swab to remove the dead skin gently.
4. Moisturise the lips using Vaseline lip therapy
Apply a thick layer of the Vaseline lip therapy and wait for 3 to 5 minutes. Then, remove it gently using a cotton swab.
