Things To Do While Waiting For Your Exam Results

02-Dec-2020
By Jaisy

It's a long wait when it comes to exam results, leading up to the day, during this period, many of us will feel anxious even if 'The Day' is still far away. Rather than turning into a couch potato, why not spend some time doing beneficial activities!

1. Picking up a new skill

A new skill can be anything as long as it sparks your interest. Hence, it can be learning how to cook or learning embroidery. To get started, you could visit platforms such as Youtube, Pinterest or even XiaoHongShu to gain inspirations. It's proven that people learn a new skill better and faster when it is done kinesthetically ( hands-on learning ). It keeps our mind engaged, so even when we go back to tertiary learning our learning pace will still be consistent. You wouldn’t know, maybe it could even lead to your own small business start-up!

2. Hunt for a part-time job

What better time to earn some money than this? Start going on job vacancy websites or even find out from your local ice-cream store if vacancies are available! It never hurts to ask, you may even realize your hidden potential! Do apply for as many vacancies possible as it enables you to choose which suits you most and also a job that enables you to bring forth your maximum potential. However, in this pandemic, available jobs with minimal requirements may be finding a needle in a haystack, but never lose the spirit!

3. Research on colleges / Universities

If you’re sure of the course that you would like to major in, head on to different colleges or universities’ websites to not only check out the pricing of the course but also programme outlines to better understand what to expect when enrolling for the chosen course; at the same time, you could also read the reviews of certain college you have in mind, so that you are ensured good quality education. Now, if you have yet to come to a decision, fear not as there are many websites out there that allow you to take free career test! Don't forget  to look out for any upcoming educational fairs to grab hold of scholarships!

4. Learn a new language

Though we are stranded at home due to CMCO, but thanks to the advancement in technology, our learning journey is not disrupted. There are many language apps that are free on the Google Play Store or Appstore; paid online lessons are available too if you’re willing to pay the extra cash. Learning a new language can be added to your qualities on your resume when applying for a job, it may even allow you to stand out when interviewing for future jobs as you can communicate with people worldwide. Let's say the Korean Language for example, it does not only mean that you can understand K-dramas without having to read subtitles but it also means that the next time you visit Korea, you no longer need to struggle to form sentences!
