The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM), in collaboration with the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) and the Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG), recently conducted an operation resulting in the detention of several individuals.
This included a Singaporean citizen who had been living in Malaysia for 13 years without valid documentation. According to a statement from JIM Johor, the operation commenced around 9:30 a.m. and targeted areas in Johor Bahru and Pasir Gudang.
Acting on public complaints regarding illegal structures erected on reserved land in Jalan Wadihana, Johor Bahru, joint efforts from several departments led to the detention of five individuals. All were found to violate immigration laws.
Among those detained was a 34-year-old Singaporean man who had been residing illegally in Malaysia since 2011.
Additionally, a Bangladeshi national was detained for violating the terms of his work permit. Furthermore, three other foreign nationals, including two Indonesians and one Pakistani, were detained for lacking valid documentation.
Those detained were found to have violated various sections of the Immigration Act 1959/63, including Section 6(1)(c) for lacking a valid passport or permit, Section 15(1)(c) for overstaying, and Regulation 39(b) for breaching permit conditions.
