As many were sleeping peacefully in the early this morning in Kampung Likas, a raging fire ensued, destroying 10 houses in its wave, devastating families and leaving 65 residents homeless.
Thankfully however, there were no casualties reported, according to a spokesman for the Sabah Fire and Rescue Departments (Bomba) Operations Centre.
He stated that at 3:11am, a distress call was received at the department and 26 firemen from the Jalan Lintas, Kota Kinabalu and Penampang fire and rescue stations were swiftly dispatched to the scene.
The fire was then extinguished at 4:16am, and the entire operation concluded at 6:49 am, the spokesman stated to when reporters here today.
He had also clarified that investigations are currently underway to determine the amount of losses incurred as well as what set off the fire in the first place.
