50+ Pets Neglected By Mentally Ill Owner In Puchong, Resorted To Eating Each Other Due To Starvation

A local who claimed to love cats and dogs, keeping dozens of them at home, has been accused of neglecting the animals to the point of starvation.

Dr. Wan Aimi Abdul Rahim, a veterinarian and animal rescue activist, shared the disturbing account.

According to her, the owner, suffering from mental health issues, was subsequently admitted for treatment at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Tanjung Rambutan, Perak.

"The owner had dozens of cats and dogs squeezed into a small terraced house, and none of them were properly cared for. The animals were roaming around the house with feces, urine, and food scattered everywhere, creating an extremely foul smell," said Dr. Wan Aimi.

Authorities and local rescuers launched an investigation after receiving complaints from a concerned neighbor.

"We were alerted by a neighbor who reported a terrible odor coming from the house. Upon inspection, we found severe neglect."

The incident occurred in Puchong, where the owner reportedly bought all the cats and dogs from a nearby pet store and kept them in the small house.

"Imagine a small terraced house with over 30 large dogs and 20 cats, with feces and urine everywhere. The smell was overwhelming. The animals were not fed, and we found animal remains, suggesting they had resorted to cannibalism," she said.

The authorities have since confiscated the animals and provided them with the necessary care and treatment.
