A bomboloni seller recently shared a screenshot of a conversation where they were accused of practising "usury (riba)" for allegedly charging too much for their goods.
In a post on Threads by @wnfqh_, the seller revealed that an individual, upon leaning that 30 bomboloni were priced at RM50, repeatedly called the price "expensive" and claimed it would drive customers away.
"Don't keep raising prices. Its like usury (riba)," the individual replied.
The seller, who had previously sold bomboloni at RM1.50 in 2023, politely suggested the individual look for cheaper options.
"Don't keep raising prices. Its like usury (riba)," the individual replied, puzzling netizens with their comparison.
Many supported the seller, commending their professionalism and quality offerings.
The seller also revealed that in 2022, the same individual had requested financial help but became hostile when asked for proof.
Loyal customers vouched for the bomboloni's value, nothing that the seller had only raised prices twice since starting in 2019 to accommodate rising costs.
Netizens continue to stand by the seller, praising their resilience and dedication to quality.
