How many of you can say your K-Pop biases have been invited to speak at the White House and successfully made the President of the United States pose with a finger heart in a group photo?
Global heartthrobs and international Kpop boyband BTS have recently taken center stage at the White House to advocate for Anti-Asian hate, especially towards East Asians that has been dangerously prevalent in the United States following the global COVID-19 pandemic, as well as other countries, having had the experiences being on the receiving end themselves.
In their speech, BTS band member Jimin said, "We were shocked and devastated about the recent surge of hate crimes including Asian-American hate crimes. In the hopes of helping to put a stop to this and to support the cause, we'd like to take this opportunity to voice ourselves once again."
Touching on the subject of diversity, SUGA continued, "It's not wrong to be different. We think equality begins when we open up and embrace all of our differences."
To end their speech, BTS member RM concluded, "Lastly, we thank President Biden and the White House for giving us this important opportunity to speak about the important causes and remind ourselves of what we can do as artists. Once again, thank you very much."
