There are reports circulating that Bersih plans to stage a march towards Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 27) to present a memorandum urging for reforms. Bersih chairman Faisal Abdul Aziz mentioned their focus will be on advocating for a cessation of discharge without acquittal in corruption cases.
However, the Kuala Lumpur police have cautioned against public involvement in a Bersih gathering on Tuesday (Feb 27) to press for reforms.
According to Kuala Lumpur police chief Allaudeen Abdul Majid, no formal notice was lodged to inform authorities about the proposed demonstration, as stipulated by the Peaceful Assembly Act. He stressed that organizing a gathering without prior police notice constitutes a breach of regulations.
Consequently, the public is urged to refrain from participating in any assembly that flouts the law, with stringent enforcement measures anticipated.
