Malaysia is still mourning following the tragedy of two Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) helicopters colliding and crashing, claiming the lives of 10 members. One of the victims of the accident was Petty Officer Nor Rahiza Anuar, who leaves behind a husband and four children.
According to a report by Harian Metro, the eldest daughter of the deceased, 16-year-old Nur Qistina Awliya, and her twin sister Nur Qistina Auni were attending class at the TLDM Naval Base Secondary School when they received the news.
"My friend called me and said... you have to be patient. When we arrived at the teacher's room, many teachers were already there. They held my hand while crying. The teacher said Mama had passed away due to a helicopter accident," she said.
It is understood that the deceased was among the seven crew members aboard the HOM aircraft (M503-3) that crashed at the TLDM Lumut Stadium in the incident. Meanwhile, Nur Qistina Awliya also shared that her mother acted strangely and was very excited to take pictures while celebrating Eid al-Fitr a few days ago.
"Dad even said... look how excited Mama is. After that, Mama said, who knows if it'll be the last, we should keep this as a memory," she said, unable to hold back her tears.
The deceased's remains will be buried in their village in Yan, Kedah, once the autopsy procedures are expected to be completed by late noon today.
