Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin wrote on a Facebook post yesterday (May 8) that he had received a phone call from United States President Donald Trump. Apart from congratulating him and the new government, the US president also expressed his commitment to further strengthen the comprehensive cooperation between Malaysia and the United States.
“During the 30-minutes conversation, President Trump and I discussed the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the approach both countries have taken. We also stressed on the importance of cooperation among the international community to reduce the impact of the pandemic on the people and global economy.
“These efforts include the enhancement of cooperation in developing vaccine and medicines as well as equal access to the COVID-19 vaccine when it is available,” he wrote in the posting.

Muhyiddin also stated that both countries have also agreed to ensure smooth supply of critical equipment and other supplies, especially when there is a global health crisis.
Other than COVID-19 related issues, the two country leaders also discussed issues on international security and peace.
