ICYMI: WATCH: Meghan Markle's Kids Make Rare Cameo in New Valentine's Day Post
There have been long-standing rumours that the rear camera array of Apple's iPhone 17 Pro will be totally overhauled. However, according to a recent research, every design we have seen thus far was completely incorrect.
In a YouTube video posted on Friday, Jon Prosser, a Front Page Tech host and Apple leaker, revealed the "actual" design of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro. Prosser claims that while the front of Apple's upcoming flagship phone would remain mostly unchanged, the rear will be altered. However, the cameras will not be arranged horizontally.
According to reports, the iPhone 17 Pro will instead include the same triangle arrangement of the back cameras, but they will be housed in a sizable camera bump that essentially spans the width of the device and is darker in colour than the rest of the device.
It makes sense. As Prosser explains in the video, one of the technical reasons Apple would want to maintain the present camera arrangement is that there simply isn't enough space on top of the phone for a completely horizontal camera arrangement.
Although Prosser claims to have seen the item in person and obtained various sources to validate the design, the images he showed in the video (below) are renderings. Although this is difficult to accept – it is extremely uncommon for someone to obtain a sneak peek at a real new iPhone thus early before its release – it is feasible.
Prosser also refuted rumours that the Dynamic Island on the phone's face is shrinking, among other modifications. He cited people who say the iPhone feels lighter in their hands, but he said he doesn't know much about the internal components or the materials Apple will utilise.
Until Apple releases the next iPhone, which is probably going to happen in September, none of this is official, and we won't know if it's true.
