Do You Think This RM3k Empurau Fish Dish in Sibu Is Worth It?

Some Malaysians have the tendency to not be concerned about the cost of meals as long as it is tasty and worthwhile. Especially when it comes to eating at seafood restaurants!

Kerryn, a Singaporean woman, recently travelled to Sibu for a vacation and spoke about her experience eating the popular seasonal Empurau fish, often known as the "King of the River" in Sarawak.

When you play the TikTok clip, the first thing you'll notice is when she asks, "Would you pay more than SGD 1000 for a fish?"

Well, SGD 1000 is also equivalent to RM3.3k so that's quite expensive!

What makes the fish so distinctive and tasty is that it only feeds on fruits found on riverbanks, which gives it a fatty taste as well as a unique aromatic scent when cooked.

The exotic fish migrates if its habitats become contaminated and prefer clean, cold, clear, and swift-flowing rivers with rocky riverbeds.

Also, Empurau fish is pricey due to its rarity, slow growth, and seasonal reproduction rate.

However, is the price worth the fish though?

Based on Kerryns review, she honestly enjoys the flesh of the fish and how she found the meat so tender, juicy and melts in your mouth. Plus you don't really need to add any sauce to enjoy it.

Well, what do you think? Would you spend this much money to try it? Let us know!
