A tragic accident on the Kuantan-Segamat road near Pekan claimed the life of a medical assistant and left seven others injured last night.
Pekan police chief Zaidi Mat Zin confirmed that 30-year-old Nur Ezyyantie Aliakbar from RPSB BT 8 Lepar, Pekan, lost her life at the scene. She was a passenger in a Perodua Myvi that collided with a Honda HR-V.
According to Zaidi, both vehicles carried four passengers each. The Honda, driven by a 50-year-old man, was traveling from Kuantan to Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, while the Myvi, driven by a 32-year-old man, was en route from Segamat, Johor, to Kuantan.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the Honda HR-V lost control and veered into the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the Myvi.
"The Honda is believed to have lost control and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with the Myvi," Zaidi said in a statement to Harian Metro.
The seven injured victims, ranging in age from two years to 50, were rushed to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan for medical treatment.
