This Malaysian TikToker has sparked a heated online controversy with her rant about the supposed lack of Malay food in Penang. The now-deleted video, which has been making rounds on social media, showcased her frustration with the dining options in the area.
Walaun ni sehari tak tunjuk bodoh tak boleh ke? Cari kedai Melayu kat Penang pergi la area Melayu. Nak senang makanan halal carilah kedai Mamu. pic.twitter.com/SnpQvQgS7j

According to her, she struggled to find Malay restaurants and ended up settling for a roadside stall located far away from her initial spot. But it didn't stop there - she went on to call for the Malay community in Penang to rise and strengthen their economy.
Nie aku marah. Depa nie pi mana cari kedai.

Pagi2 nak tambah dosa aku utk maki depa nie.
Tak reti guna Google Maps mungkin. Kesian lapar dia pic.twitter.com/LY0zZD4Hi6

However, her complaints didn't sit well with Malaysians, who quickly slammed her for her slanderous remarks and lack of effort in searching for restaurants. They pointed out that she seemed more focused on creating unnecessary drama on TikTok rather than making a genuine effort to find good food.
Amik video tepi jalan area Queensbay. Pstu komplen xde kedai Melayu. Kt situ mana boleh pacak warung @ gerai. Majlis angkut la nanti. Pi la astaka Tmn Tun Sardon ka, Bayan Baru ka. Byk ja kedai2 Melayu Islam. Penang ni food haven la. Rajin dgn x rajin ja nk pi explore.

Kalau kata miskin, marah pulak kang. Masuk ja la dalam mall tu. Bersepah kedai halal. Hang mampu atau tak ja. Kalu rasa takdak duit sangat, pi ja dekat Bayan Baru atau Bukit Jambul tu, sebelah ja nun ja. Bersepah kedai makan murah. Haihhh..

Locals from Penang expressed their disappointment, emphasizing that there are plenty of Malay restaurants on the island and mainland that she could have easily discovered with a simple Google search.
One local even criticized her audacity for complaining about the lack of roadside Malay eateries in the Queensbay area, reminding her that such stalls are against municipal rules. He proudly stated that Penang is a renowned food haven and suggested that she put in some effort to explore the amazing dining options the city has to offer.
Others chimed in, highlighting that even foreigners visiting Penang know how to find great places to eat, while she, being a Malaysian, couldn't even do the bare minimum and resorted to whining on the internet.
The controversy serves as a reminder that a little effort and research can go a long way in discovering the diverse and delicious culinary experiences available in Penang, rather than stirring up drama for the sake of attention on social media platforms like TikTok.
