TW: Murder

Former national motorcycle racer Elly Idzlianizar Elias, 40, was tragically killed in Perlis yesterday.

The news of his death was shared by his brother, Elly Idzliaikmal, on social media.

The athlete, known for representing Malaysia in several high-profile races, was allegedly attacked with a samurai sword, suffering more than eight slashes.

Initial investigations by the police revealed that the incident began when Elly, reportedly in a state of anger, went to confront a 51-year-old man at his home in a residential area.

The man, identified as the main suspect, was not present at the time, but his wife and son were.

Elly later encountered the suspect at an intersection within the neighbourhood, which led to a physical altercation involving two additional men, including the suspect’s 31-year-old son.

The situation escalated, resulting in the fatal attack.

Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the attack and whether there were elements of organized crime involved.

The suspect reportedly has a lengthy criminal record, including charges related to attempted murder and drugs.
