First of all, hyperpigmentation on any body part is nothing out of the ordinary and it certainly shouldn‘t be looked down upon. However, it is human nature to be self-conscious about such concerns. If you’ve been avoiding tank tops and swimsuits because of it, we hope these remedies will help you gain more confidence.
1. Use Chemical Exfoliation
If you're already using a chemical exfoliator on your face, you can double its use and apply it to your armpits too. In a month or two, you'll see the difference.
2. Mix Baking Soda With Lemon
Combine lemon juice with some baking soda until it turns into a paste and smear it gently around the area of your armpits. Do this a few times a week.
3. Opt For Cucumber Slices
This may sound silly but, cucumber is quite an effective brightening agent for its bleaching properties. Just slice up a cucumber and rub it on your armpits and then let the juice sits on your skin for up to ten minutes before rinsing it. Do this daily for fast results.
4. Use Hyperpigmentation Serums (With Cautions Though!)
Any vitamin c, alpha arbutin etc treatment serum you already have on your skincare shelf can also be used to lighten the skin area around your armpits. Be careful not to use too much though as that particular area tends to be a bit more sensitive.
5. Go For Professional Treatments
If you can afford it, it's best to get it treated and let the professionals work their magic.
Just remember, curing hyperpigmentation takes time, and expecting unrealistically fast results will only cause disappointment. Be patient in your treatment and you will slowly (but surely!) see the improvement over time. Lastly, love your body— it's the only one you've got.
