Melaka police have arrested a security guard at a dental clinic on suspicion of molesting a male student in a disturbing incident that occurred on Tuesday evening.
According to Acting Melaka Police Chief, Datuk Md Nazri Zawawi, the alleged incident took place at 2.40 pm when the 19-year-old victim, who was within the compound of a government clinic, asked the security guard for directions to the toilet. The security guard, who was of the same age as the victim, pointed him in the right direction.
However, while the victim was undressing in the toilet, he noticed the security guard behaving suspiciously as if he was stalking him. The suspect then knocked on the toilet door and instructed the victim to turn on the toilet light. As the light switch was located outside, the victim slightly opened the door to press it.
At that moment, the security guard allegedly positioned himself in front of the door and attempted to force his way inside. He is accused of grabbing the victim's genitals. Reacting swiftly out of fear for his safety, the victim pushed the suspect away and immediately shut the door.
After a few minutes, the victim realized that the security guard had left. He quickly exited the toilet and reported the incident at the clinic counter.
Police later arrested the suspect at the clinic at 12.05 pm on Monday. The suspect, who is from Johor, underwent an initial urine screening test, which returned negative results. Authorities are now applying for a remand to conduct further investigations under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
