Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein has warned staff and students of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) as well as the members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) not to allow the tragedy that befell the late UPNM Naval Cadet Officer Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain to repeat itself again.
"Zulfarhan Osman's death four years ago was very saddening. As the Defence Minister then, I had instructed the Military Training Academy (ALK) to immediately suspend 32 cadet officers, as well as re-evaluate the training system and trainee management in ALK." He said. ”I will never compromise in acts of crime and cruelty."
After four years of heartwrenching battle for justice, the High Court has finally sentenced six UPNM students to 18 years in prison after they were found guilty of causing Zulfarhan Osman’s death, yesterday.
Indeed, bullying and the toxic seniority culture in any institution should not ever be tolerated, as it has been proven to be nothing but a pathetic show of fragile masculinity. #JusticeForZulfarhan and other unnamed victims before him.
