The 9-second clip, which quickly went viral, racked up over a million views and drew hundreds of comments from curious onlookers. In the video, the crimson floodwaters mix with the more typical murky brown, creating an unsettling visual that seemed straight out of a sci-fi movie.
Social media users, as expected, were quick to speculate about the cause of the bizarre phenomenon. Some jokingly referred to the scene as the "Red Sea," while others wondered whether something ominous had taken place.
Among the more serious guesses, a popular theory pointed to dye runoff from a nearby batik factory. Many believed that the excessive dye used in fabric production might have leaked into the environment, coloring the floodwaters.
