Practising the motto "fake it till you make it" a bit too literally, this individual took things to an extreme. Despite lacking any legal training, this counterfeit lawyer remarkably won all 26 of his cases. Allegedly, he not only accessed the society's portal but also manipulated the account details of a namesake, uploading his own image and falsely claiming to be a trained legal professional.
The real Brian Mwenda stumbled upon the theft of his identity when he couldn't access his account and discovered altered details. Contacted by the Law Society of Kenya, he confirmed that he hadn't applied for a practising certificate as he was already employed at the Office of the Attorney General, rendering the certificate unnecessary. The revelation came in September 2023 when he attempted to activate his profile for the certificate application and found his account inaccessible. While the incident sparked outrage, some couldn't help but admire the audacity of the 'fake lawyer.'
