TikTok viral marketing gone too far?
After purportedly uploading a video that seemed to make fun of OKUs, a seafood restaurant in Jitra, Kedah, has provoked massive outrage.
The public insulted the video, which went viral very fast.
Among those criticizing the eatery was Amir Azam, an OKU himself and a TikTok user. In a social media response, he urged the eatery to take down the outrages video.
"Although you're not disabled, you wish to behave as such. I hope the owner of the TikTok account can remove the video that makes fun of an OKU's physical appearance. For OKUs, this is a delicate and sensitive subject", said Amir.
He added that such content should not be advertised or displayed as an example for the general public, particularly not as a way to draw in clients.
After the public's reaction, the video has been deleted with the restaurant's TikTok account closing the comment sections.
Since then, the eatery has posted an apology video to its TikTok page.
