In a shocking and disturbing turn of events, the police have apprehended the caretaker of a private orphanage in Taman Mas for allegedly raping one of its underage residents over a period of two years. The suspect, a 59-year-old man, is believed to have committed the heinous crime when the victim was between 13 and 15 years old.
According to Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee, the initial investigation revealed that the victim, now 17 years old, was raped between 2020 and 2022. The suspect, who was also the caretaker of the orphanage where the victim resided, allegedly took advantage of his position of trust to exploit and abuse the young girl.
The police report was lodged on November 29 at approximately 9:48 pm, prompting a swift response from the authorities. A raid was conducted on a house in Taman Mas at around 3:00 am on November 30, resulting in the arrest of the suspect.
The suspect is currently being remanded from November 30 to December 10 to assist in the investigation under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, which carries a severe penalty of up to 20 years in prison with whipping.
