Poor woman from Kuala Lumpur has regrettably lost over RM37,000 in total after falling victim to a scam weaved by a man who claimed to be the grandson of the founder of a personal care and cosmetics company that was quite popular in the 90s.
The suspect allegedly deceived the victim by asking her to invest in a project that was looking to produce baby formula and disinfectant products using his company's logo. According to the sources, the 37-year-old victim had her first encounter with the man Segambut back in 2019. To allure her, he then proceeded to present his "business ideas" and promised to give the company's shares to the victim.
The victim, who was intrigued by the offer, handed over RM20,000 to invest in the so-called business. Last year, the suspect once again presented a new business idea, asking for her to invest RM17K then promised a profit of 10% from the sale of the products. Specifically, the victim was promised a return on the profit from the investment within three months. However, the victim has not received a single cent from her investment and decided to lodge a police report.
The investigation is now underway. Meanwhile, the public is urged to be aware of such scam tactics and not be easily deceived by individuals they barely know.
