Attempting to file a business licence application at the Pasir Gudang City Council Building, this 60-year-old woman was turned away by a security guard because of her dress.
When she initially walked inside the building, she questioned the ground staff at the counter for guidance and they told her to go to the second floor.
She followed the staff's directions and approached the security guard for a pass to use the elevator to get to the second floor, however, she was surprised when she was denied access because her attire was "inappropriate".
The security guard considered her dress, which was below the knee, unsuitable and urged her to wear a long skirt that touches the floor instead.
She didn't want to make a commotion, so she walked back to the counter where the ground staff were and informed them what had happened. They then advised her to use the stairs instead of the elevator to get to the second floor.
At that moment, the poor woman was left perplexed and wondered whether there was a specific dress code for visiting government buildings. However, to her understanding, any clothing that goes past the knee is considered decent.
The Pasir Gudang MCA was made aware of this situation and urged the mayor to respond and address the issue.
