Despite being just a bridge away, Malaysia and Singapore have a significant 3.5 times difference in currency exchange rates. While working in Singapore may offer higher salaries on the surface, the emotional toll is known only to those who experience it. Not only that they might be sacrificing time with their families but also possibly jeopardizing their health.
A netizen posted on the Facebook group, stating that a Malay colleague, suspected of overworking, collapsed in the toilet, was rushed to the hospital, and unfortunately, did not survive.
According to a report by "China Press," the original poster mentioned that the colleague was found with a blackened head and discoloured pupils. As none of them knew CPR, the original poster immediately searched online for CPR emergency procedures and attempted to revive the colleague.
While pressing down on the chest, the original poster shouted to the colleague, urging him to wake up quickly: "Abang balik lo Jangan tidur lo Sudah mau Raya la jangan tidur lagi lo!"
The supervisor, seeing the continuous efforts of the original poster, worried that he might get tired and suggested changing someone else to continue CPR. Everyone worked hard to save their colleague, attempting to snatch him back from the clutches of death until paramedics arrived and took the colleague to the hospital.
Unfortunately, the supervisor later brought news from the hospital that the resuscitation efforts had failed, and the colleague had passed away.
The original poster revealed that the colleague, in his lifetime, commuted daily between Singapore and Malaysia for work and likely succumbed to the excessive strain.
Although this post has been taken down, it sparked discussions among netizens who mourned the deceased, expressing condolences and emphasizing the challenges of life. They urged everyone not to push themselves too hard and to prioritize their health amidst the daily struggles for a livelihood.
