Since the high covid cases in Malaysia, 9,020 yesterday alone, the government has announced a full lockdown over the country beginning June 1st, to last for two weeks till June 14th.
Receiving the news on Friday (May 28th), many have been waiting for the list of SOPs to come with it. Via press conference and an official statement by the government, a few of the SOPs for the upcoming lockdown was announced a couple of hours ago, and is as follows:
Industries Allowed to Operate
1. Food and Beverage
2. Health, Water and Energy Utilities
3. Transport
4. News Media & Broadcast
5. Banks
6. Information Technology
7. Construction & Critical Repairs
8. Forestry & Wildlife Enforcement
9. Aerospace
The statement released by the government also stated that should the number of cases not see a decline, an FMCO phase 2 will then be implemented for 4 weeks, with certain economic sectors being allowed to then, reopen.
What Malaysians need to take note of:
1. Food and beverages are allowed for takeaway only
2. Only 2 people are allowed to shop for household essentials
3. Only a travel radius of 10km is allowed
4. More than 2 people are allowed for medical emergencies only
5. Shopping malls are not allowed to open with the exception of restaurants, eateries, convenience stores, supermarkets & hypermarkets, pharmacies, hardware stores and optical stores
6. Approval letters from MITI only valid till 31st May
7. New work approval letters from June 1st must be obtained from respective ministries
8. Individual sports like jogging and exercising allowed before 8pm
9. Public market and wet market allowed to operate from 6am to 2pm
