A heartwarming video showing a KKM (Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia) staff that went looking for a COVID-19 positive orang Asli mother and baby at the Kampung Orang Asli Langkap went viral these past few days.
The video that was uploaded to TikTok by @thedressar1 last Friday has over 300k views as of today.
The owner of the account, Azrul Zubir, 31, who is an assistant medical officer, said he uploaded the video a day after the assignment. According to him, the video was to provide an understanding to the society about the role of the Ministry of Health in reaching out to the Orang Asli community following the outbreak of Covid-19.
He said that on Thursday at around 2PM, he and two other staff members went to the orang Asli settlement, hiked up a hill about 500 meters and to look for an 18year-olf mother and her 9-month-old baby that both tested positive for COVID-19.
They had to go looking for her as she did not own a phone and they had no way to contact her to inform her about her swab test results.
The KKM staff members we fully dressed in personal protective equipment which made the hike even more difficult for them. Thankfully, the tok batin managed to help them locate the mother and baby.
Upon reaching their home which was deep within the orchard, they had to persuade the mother to come with them to the hospital. Thankfully, their persuasion worked, and the mother agreed to cooperate with them.
The video not only shows us how dedicated the KKM staff members are to making sure everyone with the virus gets proper treatment but also shows us the seriousness of the pandemic.
