The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) Johor has managed to save a barter trade boat operated by nine Indonesian crews from sinking in the waters of Tanjung Pungai, Kota Tinggi, Johor at 11 AM, last Sunday.
According to Johor Bahru Maritime Search and Rescue Coordinating Center (MRSC) director, First Maritime Admiral Nurul Hizam Zakaria, they had received an information that a foreign boat had entered the borders following bad weather in the area.
The Perkasa 30 patrol boat belonging to Maritime Malaysia was then rushed to the scene after receiving the report from the Tanjung Sedili Maritime Zone (ZMTS). "Before the incident, the barter trade boat was on a voyage carrying supplies to Natuna Island from Singapore." He explained.
"All the crew, aged between 19 and 48, were rescued and taken to the Tanjung Sedili Maritime Zone Office to be handed over to the Indonesian Consulate in Johor Bahru," he added in a statement.
