In a shocking turn of events, the police have launched a murder investigation into the death of 10-year-old Orang Asli girl, Nuraina Humaira Rosli, whose body was discovered in a swampy area on Saturday, August 17, 2024. The police are not ruling out the possibility of rape, and a 17-year-old male teenager, a close relative of the victim, has been arrested to assist in the investigation.
According to Sungai Siput District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Khaizam Ahmad Shahabudin, the post-mortem examination revealed a tear in the girl's genital area and an injury caused by pressure on her neck, suggesting that she may have been raped and murdered elsewhere before her body was placed in the area where she was found. The case, initially investigated as a sudden death, has been reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
According to Malaymail, the police have recorded statements from villagers and may call additional individuals, including the victim's parents, to assist in the investigation. The last place the child was seen was at the Surau Madrasah Darulsalam, located less than 100 meters from her family's home, around 3 pm on Friday. It is suspected that the victim went missing during that time frame.
The police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation, which is still in its early stages. A remand order for the suspect is expected to be sought at the Sungai Siput Magistrate's Court tomorrow.
Nuraina Humaira Rosli, a Standard 4 pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Pos Kuala Mu, was found dead at 4:20 pm on Saturday, following a search effort. Her tragic death has sent shockwaves through the community, and the police are working diligently to bring the perpetrators to justice.
As the investigation continues, the community is left to mourn the loss of a young life, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward to help bring closure to the family and ensure that justice is served.
