The Health Director-General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that it is wrong to say that the "asymptomatic COVID-19 patients are not contagious" because the COVID-19 infected patient is still infectious to others two or three days before the symptoms appear.
He said that 85% of people have no symptoms but are tested positive. This is because the amount of virus on them was not high.

"However, once the number of viruses increases, the patient will have symptoms. Two or three days before these symptoms appear, he is contagious because the amount of virus on his body has increased. Not only will the symptoms appear, but also the virus will be transmitted to others," Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
He mentioned that once the symptoms appear, the infectiousness of the diagnosed patients will be maintained for at least one week, or eight or nine days, after which the infectiousness will decrease day by day and they can be discharged after 14 days. He added that this is based on the standards of the World Health Organization.
