As the nation braces another lockdown, being cooped up at home is nothing new for the majority of us. Sure, we can still go to work but that’s about it. Anything that was once normal to us; traveling, watching movies at the mall, eating out with friends or having a gathering with your relatives, that’s out the window now.
Even though it sounds mundane and daunting, we have the power to create something meaningful out of these circumstances! So, uplift your spirits (and sanity) by making yourself more productive.
Learn a new skill
I have never wanted to learn how to play chess so seriously until I watched The Queen’s Gambit. Laugh all you want but the Netflix show was so addictive! As a mommy of a toddler, honestly when can I find the time to take up chess? Daydreaming aside, find a skill that you can pour your energy and time into. Be it embracing a newfound culinary talent or taking up a foreign language, nothing is impossible.
Freelancing
Not only is freelancing a great way to uncover your hidden talents, you can even generate more revenue to what you’re currently earning. If you’ve been retrenched and still facing a hard time getting a new job, freelancing is nothing to be ashamed of because it adds value to your skills. Whether it’s photography, creating resumes or content writing, you can definitely make a great deal out of it as long as there is passion (and patience).
Volunteer in a charity
Many people all around the world have been deeply affected by the pandemic. Unemployment, homelessness and even the loss of family members; these are some of the major struggles that we need to lend our helping hands to. Look for charity causes that are close to your heart. If you’re unable to help financially, spread the awareness around to raise more support because even the littlest charity comes a long way.
