Cannabis Addict In Perak Brutally Beaten To Death By Warden After Trying To Escape Rehab

A trainee from a local rehabilitation center in Changlun, Kedah was allegedly murdered after trying to escape the establishment, yesterday.

The 31-year-old victim was mercilessly beaten up by one of the wardens— his neck was allegedly stepped on multiple times and his chest battered, which ultimately led to his death. He was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital, reports say.

According to the Kedah police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat, the victim, who was admitted to the rehabilitation center last April due to cannabis addiction, was trying to escape at about 3 AM yesterday, before the warden went out searching for him.

"The warden and another staff of the rehabilitation center rode a motorcycle and found the victim on the side of the road about a kilometer from the place about 30 minutes later." He said. "The victim, who was lethargic and seemingly lifeless, was then taken home in a van and placed in an isolation cell," he said.

The warden came to his cell at about 11 AM and started brutally hitting the victim. The incident was seen by two senior trainees who interfered to disperse the situation. The victim passed out a few hours later and was brought to the hospital.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by the doctors at 7:50 PM. The warden is currently detained by the cops.
