While Waze is widely known for recommending quick and accessible routes, one woman's recent experience proved that even technology can sometimes lead us down the wrong path, literally.
In a video shared on TikTok by @meknamohta, the woman can be seen driving through what appears to be a jungle path, surrounded by dense trees on both sides. Far from the usual smooth roads, this route looked more like a trail best suited for off-road vehicles.

What made the situation even more surprising was that she wasn't alone. Several other cars were also seen navigating the same narrow path. In the video, some vehicles had initially stopped on the single-lane road, which could barely fit one car at a time, before eventually moving again once the road ahead cleared.
"Thanks to Waze. Don't even know what remote place this is. If the car in front breaks down, everyone's stuck," she wrote in a caption over the video.
The location of the unexpected detour was revealed to be in Jeli, Kelantan. She was reportedly on her way home after celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri in her hometown when Waze directed her to the unconventional route.
Since its upload, the video has attracted over 179k views, sparking reactions from netizens who were quick to share their thoughts and similar experiences.
The comments section was filled with users who could relate all too well. Many shared that they had also been led down remote, poorly maintained roads by navigation apps, especially during festive seasons when roads are congested and apps tend to suggest alternative shortcuts.
While some mentioned that Google Maps could sometimes offer better suggestions, others were quick to counter, saying the app had also led them astray in the past.
This incident serves as a humorous but cautionary reminder that while navigation apps are helpful, it's always a good idea to double-check the suggested routeespecially when driving through unfamiliar areas.
Sometimes, the "shortcut" may take longer than you think.
