On Sunday morning, the well-known "I Love Rock and Roll" songwriter, Alan Merrill, has passed away of complications from the coronavirus. He was 69 years old and was in good spirits, said her daughter, Laura Merrill.
Lauara wrote on Facebook, that she received the news right after she got back home from visiting her father, who was looking peaceful when she last saw him.
Joan Jett, from the Joan Jett & The Blackhearts who have covered the song "I Love Rock and Roll" in 1982, which popularized the hit song, also send her condolences towards the news. She wrote: “I’ve just learned of the awful news that Alan Merrill has passed. My thoughts and love go to his family, friends and music community as a whole. I can still remember watching the Arrows on TV in London and being blown away by the song that screamed hit to me. With deep gratitude and sadness, wishing him a safe journey to the other side.”
