Almost two years into the pandemic, masks are no longer just a necessity— for some, it's an added accessory, which is why we've been witnessing a boom in the sales of fancy fabric masks and overclaimed new design of masks that promise to be better than the last. However, where do we draw the line?
A wealthy businessman from India has purchased a custom-made gold mask worth Rs 5.70 lakhs (RM236,700)! According to local reports, the mask took a total of 15 days to make and weighs about 108 grams.
Netizens, however, questioned his purchase, saying it was nothing but an unnecessary flaunt of status; an act done without any ounce of sensitivity considering many have lost their lives due to the coronavirus—the very disease that inspires the very mask.
