Georgetown: A sudden freak storm has left the beautiful sunny island with severe damages in its trail.
In a shocking incident occurred yesterday evening (Feb. 8), the heavy rain and strong winds had lashed through Penang, ripping off roofs and knocking down trees in several areas.
In Sungai Ara, a food court reportedly had most of its roof structure flung apart by the strong winds, landing on several vehicles at the parking area.
Fallen and uprooted trees were also seen- notably along Jalan Tengku, Jalan Zainal Abidin, Midlands Gate and the jeep route heading to Penang Hill.
Luckily, no casualties were recorded.
The aftermath saw major debris clean-up at the effected areas, which were swiftly carried out by the Civil Defence Force and Penang Island City Council (MBPP) personnel.
