A story was shared on a TikTok account about a man complaining that his wife only served Taugeh Goreng (Stir Fried Beansprout) for over a month despite him providing what he considers an "enough" allowance for the family.
According to the man, he gives his wife Rs. 400k (equivalent to RM120) each month for their food, while he covers rice, gas, and cooking oil. He believes that this amount of money should be more than enough for his wife to serve both of them with meat dishes, and not just beansprouts.
The Indonesian man claims that he listened to his mother and did not give his wife money for makeup to avoid potential affairs. Therefore, he asserts that the allowance he provides is only for food and shouldn't be used for anything else.
He said that he had discussed this with his wife, but she argued that the money was far too little to buy meat.
He then expressed regret for marrying his wife, whom he perceives as ungrateful.
"My mum had asked me to divorce her. But I hesitated because I had spent a lot on the dowry and wedding ceremony," says the man while seemingly seeking advice from the TikTok community.
After the story was shared on TikTok, it quickly garnered tons of comments, with many claiming that the RM120 monthly allowance was way too low. One commenter even mentioned that they spend RM90 per week.
Many of the commenters suggest that the wife should consider divorcing the man and finding her own happiness.
