An airport that was once deemed as the best airport in the world for 12 years in a row, has now seen a horrifying incident that terrified passengers waiting for their flight recently.

As travel influencers Montana & Chris were about to board their flight to Bali from Changi Airport recently, am x-ray machine at the boarding gate unexpectedly caught fire, alarming both themselves and their fellow passengers alike.

@montanaandchris After being awake for 24 hours and having a 10 hour layover this was the last thing we expected to happen right before getting on the plane @Montana Jaynee #ohno #traveldays #firehazard #flightdelay #travelcouple #whoopsies Oh No - Kreepa

Filming the whole ordeal on their TikTok page, the duo were on a 10 hour layover in Singapore when the incident occurred. In the 24 second video, the machine seemed to have burst into flames, with passengers witnessing the flames getting higher. Soon after, two of the airports staff quickly extinguished the fire, but the damage had already been done, with passengers fleeing the scene as the smoke began to engulf the gate.

The incident, which occurred at 6:30am yesterday (August 6) at the D46 gate of Terminal 1, subsequently delayed the Scoot flight to Indonesia for 2 hours, which was scheduled to depart at 7:10am. Soon after the occurance, passengers were promptly evacuated to another departure gate.

"Affected customers were provided with refreshments," Scoot stated.

In regards to the incident, a spokesperson for the Changi Airport Group (CAG) explained that the cause of the fire of the X-ray machine was due to an electrical fault and that the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) arrived at the location soon after being informed of the fire at 6:40am.

Thankfully, no casualties were reported from the incident, and the flight safely departed at 9am. Scoot Airline has since sincerely apologizing for the inconvenience and stressed that passenger safety is always their priority.
