Our national Olympians fight their best in the Tokyo Olympics and surely we must give our support even though we are not in the scene. The perfect snack with the Olympics live broadcast is definitely homemade popcorn! How to make a perfect batch of popcorn with no burnt kernels? Here is a recommended recipe for you. It is quick, simple and absolutely delicious too!
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons coconut oil / extra virgin olive oil
1/3 cup high quality popcorn kernels
1 tablespoon butter (optional)
Salt to taste
Steps:
1. Adjust the fire to medium high heat. Then, heat up the saucepan.
* You must make sure the saucepan is completely dry before heating the oil in it, or else the oil will sputter.
2. Try to put 3 or 4 popcorn kernels into the saucepan and wait for them to pop.
3. When the kernels pop, put in all the popcorn kernels in an even layer. After that, cover the saucepan and remove it from heat. Count 30 seconds.
4. Put the saucepan back to heat. All the popcorns will start popping! Shake briefly once after 30 seconds or so.
* When the popcorn is popping, slightly lift the lid so that the steam may release. This is a small tip for the popcorn to become drier and crisper.
5. Once the popcorn stops popping, remove the pan from heat. Pour all the popcorn into a big bowl.
6. The last step for homemade popcorn is to sprinkle the popcorn with some salt. Absolutely, salt is not your only choice! You may also try sprinkling with some grated Parmesan cheese! Smoked paprika, nutritional yeast, cayenne powder, taco seasoning, or curry powder are interesting toppings as well.
*STORAGE: Stays crisp for 2 to 3 days in an airtight container. It may be crispy for up to 4 days if you are using a super airtight container.
