Nano mist guns once went viral across social media in Malaysia for their effective claim against the coronavirus and constantly sold out throughout multiple e-commerce platforms not too long after.
The use of the widely crazed sanitizing tool, however, has raised concerns among experts. Health director-general Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah recently stated that the use of nano mists does not replace the requirement for standard surface cleaning for disinfection against Covid- 19.
"However the effectiveness of this device is dependent on its dispersion ability, the disinfectant type used and its concentration, as well as the contact time between disinfectant and surface," he continued. He also warned the nano mist guns are not to be sprayed directly on humans as they may cause irritation and respiratory problems.
That being said, these are among those proven to be effective against SARS-CoV-2:
• 70-90% alcohol content disinfectant solution
• Hydrogen peroxide
• Thymol
• Quaternary ammonia
• Chlorine-based solution
In short, make sure the solution your putting into your nano mist is of the recommended ones.
